On Monday, May 21, several suggestions were accepted on common Central board and Board of Premier league of Professional Football League (PFL) of Ukraine meeting. Among others there were propositions concerning the calendar of Ukraine Premier league 2007/08 championship. However, this calendar has to be confirmed by the nearest Federation Football of Ukraine (FFU) Executive Committee.
Starting with Odessa
According to accepted decision the championship, like a year ago, will start with match for Ukraine Super Cup that was planned to be played on the 8th of July. Nevertheless, Dynamo Kyiv and Shakhtar Donetsk, teams which will compete in this match, asked to put off the match to the later date. So, they will play on the 10th of July in Odessa.
18 matches distance
The premiere Ukraine championship round is appointed on the 14th of July and the concluding games of autumn-winter part – on the 1st of December. The break will last till the 1st of March 2008 – just on that day the elite team championship will be resumed. The last 30th round has to be held on the 18th of May. There first part of a calendar will be longer than the second one like in previous championship – 18 matches to play (in 2006/07 championship there were 16 matches and 12 after the break).
Euro Cups taken into consideration
Regular Ukrainian Cup tournament will also start in July. Four rounds of the tournament is planned to be played before the break inclusively the quarter-final. Semi-final and final matches are set on the 16th of April and the 7th of May of 2008 accordingly. It is foreseen that all rounds duels will consist of only one match. Possible teams’ lacking of time because of EURO Cups is also taken into consideration by developers of the calendar. So, if our Champions League or UEFA Cup representatives continue their competing in winter, the National Cup quarter-final will be removed from the 8-9th to 15-16th of December.
